Not entirely sure how I dragged myself out of the house in trainers this morning (or, in fact, again later to work!): I would like for the sake of the English language to call this morning's weather caliginous, but frankly damned dreich would be more appropriate! It's never a good sign when the path outside my bedroom window turns into a stream just from the rain.
I was however, utterly determined that I was going to get my backside out of the door - even worked out an alternative set of clothing so that I have dry stuff for my gym induction tomorrow (like I need extra things to do on a Sunday). Not sure the stats are even worth bothering with - I ran the first mile in 10:34 (with the odd pause to cross roads) and then lost the will to carry on ... the trip back (1.3 miles) took another 24 mins so nothing to write home about. I did learn that the one surface my fancy trail shoes are RUBBISH on is wet stone!
The rest of the day has also been rather annoying from the snail's pace of the library assistant updating my card, to the badly organised box of songs that I had to sort through (for which I blame my fellow students not the music librarian), to the guy at M&S Collection who obviously had a sense-of-humour-ectomy at some point.
Spent most of the afternoon in my office finding and learning more music ... one of these days I will actually have time to do it properly! Still got a concert (front of hoose) to get through before I can turn in for the night and hope tomorrow is more successful ... help

Getting back in the swing?
Seems to be the story of my life - well at least in the exercise stakes - trying to get back into the swing of doing things after illness or injury.
Been for 3 runs this week: two to my local Morrisons (one of which I added a bit of a detour to get the distance up), and the other one along the seaside with Grandad.
Trying to push how far I go without stopping each time - so one run this week was 1.75 miles (which is the distance to Morrisons), and the other two I tried to do 2 miles. Maybe next week I can push up to 2.25 on my longer ones - as the second attempt at 2 miles was definitely better than the first!
Also seem to be improving my age grading - although GRG and my 'Rate my Run' app seem to differ in their opinions! GRG says I'm about 40-43% and RMR is more around 45-47%. Either way I've been getting some of my better gradings this week despite the long time off (although possibly thanks to the swimming I've been doing).
Garmin activity compare over 2.16 miles ... (I'd put this in the HTML but it seems to go crazy over the page)
Perfect day for running I guess: not too hot or cold, reasonable breeze, and no blasting sunshine to blind. Had my ipod on to listen to the Tings Tings which is definitely my favourite music to run to. Wasn't pushing too hard for the first mile and then did a wee bit on my lap of the playing field next to the store - but not sprinting style pushing. All in all quite happy with the progress at the moment.
GRG link for today's run is Run to Morrisons + detour
